Dr. Caroline Brown
Dr. Caroline Brown leads the work on Infectious Hazards in the WHO Health Emergencies Programme at the WHO Regional Office for Europe. She is currently part of the WHO global response team to Novel Coronavirus 2019. She has worked at the WHO Regional Office for Europe in the area of emergency preparedness and response to high threat pathogens since 2005 and participated in the response to Avian influenza H5N1, the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, MERS-CoV and Ebola. Her background is in biomedical research into diagnostics and vaccines and she holds a PhD in virology.
Her team works with countries to strengthen surveillance and response to seasonal and pandemic influenza. In collaboration with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, her programme runs the Flu News Europe bulletin and collects and publishes data on seasonal influenza vaccine polices and uptake.
