Sarah Schwepcke is currently the country manager for the GIZ Tunisia portfolio, which comprises of 25+ projects combining a total of more than EUR 160 million of commissions from different clients. The portfolio is centered around four main areas of intervention: (1) employment creation and private sector development, (2) good governance and decentralisation, (3) protection of natural resources as well as (4) renewable energy and climate change-related issues.
Before taking this position, she lead the Southeast Asia Section of the Responsible and Inclusive Business Hubs (RIBH), a GIZ-implemented programme in Southeast Asia, Southern Africa and the Middle-East / North-Africa Region on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. The Hubs aimed at supporting companies to successfully design and implement responsible and inclusive business models and to promote private sector engagement in international cooperation projects, with a special focus on the travel industry. As part of this work, she was advising the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism on their strategy for promoting inclusive und sustainable tourism across the archipelago.
Sarah Schwepcke holds Master Degrees in International Management and International Affairs & Governance by the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, and the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education. She has been working on behalf of GIZ for the past 8 years, with a regional focus on North Africa (Tunisia, Egypt) and Southeast Asia (Indonesia).
